Frankfurt apple wine has been the local beverage of preference for over 250 years. This tour takes participants across the Eiserne Steg footbridge into Old Sachsenhausen, Frankfurts time-honoured apple wine district, and then on to the Apple Wine Museum, where the history of Frankfurts most popular beverage is told, along with stories and anecdotes that underline the cultural significance of this delicious drink.

The Museum Embankment Festival, held from 28th to 30th August 2009, promises once again to be an event of very special magnificence. On this weekend, Frankfurt celebrates its museums with a unique festival combining art, culture, music and gastronomy from around the globe. With over three million visitors per year and a show programme replete with museum exhibitions and stage performances of every variety, the Museum Embankment Festival ranks amongst Europe’s largest cultural celebrations. The festivities conclude on Sunday evening with a spectacular fireworks display held directly on the River Main.

"I am amazed by the power of my pictures in the Städel”, Kirchner noted in his diary on 21st December 1925. His relationships to the Städel and Frankfurt were close. The Städel Museum now pays tribute to one of the most prominent expressionist artists by assembling the first Kirchner retrospective to be put on display in Germany for 30 years. For the coming show, the museum’s own Kirchner collection, rated as one of the most significant in the world thanks to the numerous major works it encompasses, will be supplemented by some 170 further works representing every stage of the artist’s career.

Georges Seurat, the famous French neo-impressionist, is today considered to be one of the icons of 19th-century art and the most important exponent of Pointillism, a style of painting developed by the artist himself. With this exhibition, the SCHIRN draws attention to Seurat’s impressive figure paintings. Thanks to his innovative compositions and new painting technique, Seurat helped to smooth the way for impressionists going from the 19th to the 20th century. The SCHIRN now presents the first comprehensive Seurat exhibition on German soil for many decades.
